Bloom 5
5 years A.M. (After Merger)
Mid-Day
The Writers’ Guild is strolling along the majestic forest of Storm Creek. The trees are a bright green as the sun hits the leaves, still wet from the morning air. Happy little squirrels jump from tree to tree, birds chirp up a nice little tune, and a wolf mother tends to her pups. The guild could never ask for a better day to stroll along Storm Creek.
They are being led by the intelligent and ever cunning Mistress Mouw. Their quest is to spread the word of their newly formed guild. They have been traveling for three days now and the majestic forest is the last obstacle standing between them and their destination. Suddenly darkness engulfs the guild and they are separated from Mistress Mouw. The guild stops in their tracks shouting for their guild leader, but there is no reply. Suddenly the ground beneath caves in and the heroes are trapped in a system of caves.
The heroes begin to get up from the dust. Some of them pull out their weapons expecting an attack. A few minutes go by, the dust begins to settle, and the heroes notice there is no one ready to attack. They begin to put away their weapons and form a quick camp so that they can decide what to do next. JC the Ever-Vigilant scans the area for any trouble that may be afoot, ever vigilant. Juan the Heartless goes to the makeshift camp and approaches Javier the Clumsy.
“Javier, did you bring the rations necessary to survive a situation like this?” Juan asked Javier.
“Oh,” replies Javier, “Was that my job? I thought it was Maddi’s.”
Maddi the Merciless becomes outraged and attacks Javier. He, despite his large stature, could not defend himself against the tiny, ferocious girl. JC rushes to separate the two with all his might.
“Now is not the time to fight, children!” he shouts at the two.
“Ow, she bit me!” screamed Javier, as Maddi bit off a piece of Javier’s arm. His face was filled with shock and pain as he clutched at his slowly bleeding arm.
“Yummy!” cheered Maddi with a grin on her face, as a tiny trickle of blood flows down her lips and her eyes sparkle with delight.
“I wouldn’t eat that. You don’t know where he’s been,” said Stacey the Wise as she sharpened her arrows, sitting on a rock near the fire.
“I don’t knooooow, he sure looks delicious,” countered Bryan the Fearless with a sinister grin on his face.
“I agree,” groaned Alanna the Undead as she put her eyeball back in place.
Javier began to sweat and panic in this cold, dark, and damp cave. The heroes began to eye him up and down like a steak. His back reached to a wall and he knew his time was coming to an end. Only the beginning of his adventure and his time has come. He began to think and try to come up with a way to get himself out of this situation.
“Hey now guys, whatever happened to all the good times we shared? Isn’t that worth something?” he said in a frightened and shaky voice.
The heroes began to think back on all those times. Suddenly Juan countered back, “What good times?” and the heroes realize there aren’t that many memories formed at this time. They begin to close in on Javier until Matt the Clever cuts in.
“Guys, this is ridiculous. This is Javier, our fellow guild member. We can’t just eat him!” he said. “Nah I don’t care do whatever you want.”
An hour has passed by and the heroes have had their fill. None of them were actually hungry; they just wanted to eat Javier. The problem at hand now was to escape this system of tunnels. There are different ways to go which branch off into more and more caves. The heroes clean up from their dinner and pack up what little provisions they had or made from their resources. Some of them pick up some torches to help light the way. There is only one problem left about this situation.
“Who will lead us? Without a leader we are confused and out of control! We already ate Javier!” panicked Erika the Relentless.
The remaining men volunteered for leader. Juan, Bryan, JC, and Matt stand up, all eager to lead this tiny guild to freedom in exchange for a bit of fame.
“I shall lead us out of these caves!” said Bryan with fire in his eyes and determination in his voice.
“Ha!” scoffed Juan, “You can’t even get to the bathroom by yourself! I will lead us out of here.”
“I think it’d be a wiser decision if we followed my lead,” replied JC, putting reason into his words.
“Nah I think I can do this, guys,” said Matt, putting a bit of charm into his own words.
The rest of the heroes formed a small circle where the men stepped into. They all seemed equally challenged and they all seemed capable of leading the guild to freedom, but due to their stubbornness, only one would be allowed to do so. They began to draw their weapons and step into a fighting pose.
“This isn’t going to end very well,” Stacey said to herself as she pulled out her journal and began to write, not caring about who would win this fight.
Out of the blue Maddi steps up to get in on the action. “I challenge all of you at once!” she screamed in pure ambition. All of the other men just stared. They were surprised, speechless, and a bit shocked. Everyone was still for a while, until Erika broke the silence.
“Oh no, this isn’t going to end well. We’re not going to get anywhere now,” she said with a bit of depression.
“Forget this I’m out. I don’t want to fight a girl,” Matt said, and he went to go sit in the circle.
“I don’t’ care, it’s your funeral Maddi!” shouted Juan. He charged at Maddi with his axe at hand and a lust for blood in his eyes. He got just a few feet in front of her before she jumped straight in the air and drop kicked him in the chest. He flew towards Bryan and they both were knocked unconscious after hitting the rocky walls of the cave. JC turned to see the two fly off and then he turned back to Maddi. He just stared and dropped his sword, forfeiting the fight.
“Yay! I win! I’m leader!” cheered Maddi as she hopped up and down clapping her hands together and a huge grin on her face.
“I think that’s the smarter choice,” Stacey said as she closed her journal and got ready to journey through the caves.
